Daily Scripture: Psalm 66: 13-14: “I will go into your house with burnt offerings; I will pay you my vows, which my lips have uttered and my mouth has spoken when I was in trouble.”
Whatever promises or vows you make to the Lord, be sure to do them. God loves those who keep to their word.
Making vows is part of being human. We make vows in difficulties to emphasize the strength of our desire and commitment to change. It is normally something in exchange for another.
In bareness, like Hannah, we make vows. When the child comes it is another thing. In poverty, we make vows. In sickness, we make vows. When faced with the trouble, we make vows. The real test where many fall short is when God has done his part.
Do you do your part or procrastinate or even change your confession? God loves those who tell the truth from their hearts. God also loves those who swear to their hurt. They are part of those he permits to enter his presence.
If God cannot trust you, he will not invest his kingdom resources in you.
If you change your mind and words easily, disregarding what you vowed to do, gradually you lose your credibility before God and men. Keep your vows.
